I just realized my cat has been sleeping at the foot of my bed because he thought I didn’t want him next to me. 😭 Every night he’d stay in the corner while I assumed he just preferred his own space, even though he’d climb onto me whenever he was awake. Then one night he fell asleep beside me while I was scrolling on my phone. He was completely knocked out, belly up, snoring and everything. When he woke up, he looked at me for a second and immediately started climbing off the bed like, “Oh shit, sorry.” I stopped him, patted the spot beside me and kept petting him until he lay back down. He relaxed almost immediately. Now whenever I turn the light off, I pat the space next to me and he comes over purring and curls up beside me. We apparently spent months avoiding each other because neither of us realized the other one wanted cuddles. 😭
