Excited for this new opportunity! The UMN Department of Pediatrics has been my home for a long time and I’m honored to lead us through this transition. @UMNPeds
What a way to start 2026.
Very proud to share our new JASN paper, led by Michael Balzer @ms_balzer — who started this work as a trainee in my lab and is now a Professor at Charité Berlin. Watching that arc never gets old.
This paper forced us to rethink how RAAS inhibition actually works in diabetic kidney disease.
We are excited to announce a new offering from Metis Genetics to provide No-Cost Pre-Test Genetic Counseling.
This is a part of the broader No-Cost to Patient APOL1 genotyping program for eligible patients, sponsored by Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

“Our natural state is dissatisfaction, punctuated by brief moments of satisfaction,” @arthurbrooks writes in our March cover story. But that doesn’t mean we’re doomed to be dissatisfied. Here are three practical ways to beat the curse.
