We’ve lost the art of fighting for friendships, relationships, or simply people worth fighting for. Everyone seems to be wearing their ego on their sleeves.
When the government is not doing its basic job and has left a huge lacuna, individuals like Alex who lack moral competence will become popular and have a platform.
While he is doing decent job with some if his initiatives, it's clear he has other motives that negates the character of someone that wants to build the next generation of leaders.
This is not the first time of doing something like this and this wont be the last time also.
I had to go and look up his CV, and I must admit that you are not only dangerous in your consistently bigoted dog-whistling, but this here is an astonishingly dishonest bit of cherry-picking. You have extracted three degrees from Dr Amos Dangut’s CV, even omitting an equally-essential degree, a Master of Education in Administration and Planning, and presented them as though WAEC plucked a naive animal scientist from a farm elsewhere and made him Head of its Nigeria National Office.
Why not tell your gullible followers that the man whose competence you set out to challenge joined WAEC almost THIRTY years ago as an Assistant Registrar II and spent the following decades rising through the organisation before becoming Head of National Office in 2023? He worked as a Subject Officer in the Test Development Division. He headed Examination Security. He served as Deputy Branch Controller in Uyo and Bauchi. He served as Branch Controller in Yola. He served as Deputy Registrar and Controller of the Post Examinations Department. He served as Zonal Coordinator of the Ikeja office. He also served as Deputy Registrar in the Office of the Head of National Office.
The point is, this man built his entire professional life inside WAEC, working across the core functions of the examination body and rising through its ranks. He was not some outsider with an unrelated degree parachuted in to run an organisation he knew nothing about. By all means, criticise his performance if there are grounds for it, but reducing his qualifications to the titles of his university degrees is profoundly disingenuous.
He also has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Administration and Planning.
Joined WAEC in 1998 as an assistant Registrar and rose through the ranks.
What exactly is your point?
Does the 28 years of experience in the council not count as a qualification?
If plantain is 500, tell me it’s 500, i will pay 1000 and tell you the extra 500 is a tip.
Don’t freaking tell me it’s 1000, that’s how inflation happens, now there’s a poor person who can’t afford that 1000 because i paid 1000 for it
I was privileged to help someone into a job at a thriving firm.
Months ago, they reached out to me wanting something more. I told them that you can only build from where you are. It was also my way of saying, I already got your yours, help yourself from here, let me help others.
Weeks later, the person I had recommended them to called me. They reported sloppiness and insubordination. They wanted me to know what they were thinking before they acted on it. I told them to do exactly what they would do to anybody else in that situation.
The future cannot be built on nothing. You want a promotion? The only evidence you have is the job already in your hands. You want a better job? The road there runs through this one. Nobody in the Bible enjoyed a miracle without a part to play. Fill the jars. Stretch out your hand. Go to the pool. Walk around the city. I cannot remember a single exception.
To treat where you are as beneath you because of where you hope to be is to decide, in essence, that you do not deserve better.
PS: Some people will read this and assume it is about them. I left out names and pronouns on purpose, because the point is for others to learn. However you feel reading it, this isn’t about you. If you still feel it is, well, do better.
