We are quietly isolating an entire generation of older people from society, and nobody seems to give a damn.

I took my 84-year-old grandfather to his local bank branch on Friday.

The exact same brick-and-mortar branch where he opened his first account in 1978.

We pull up to the front doors. They’re locked.

Inside is an empty lobby with a small sign: “Cashless Service Hub.”

A young guy in a polo shirt opens the door and tells us:

“We don't handle teller deposits or paper checks here anymore. You just need to download the mobile portal and scan your routing number.”

My grandfather pulls out an old flip phone with a cracked screen and a paper pension check from his coat pocket.

His hands were visibly shaking.

The employee just shrugs.

“You can do it on an iPad, or have a family member manage the app for you.”

This man worked forty-two years in a manufacturing plant. Paid his taxes. Fought for this country.

And now he is made to feel completely useless and stripped of his dignity because he doesn't own an iOS device.

Tech isn't making life easier if it completely locks out the people who built the world we’re living in.

"The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook."

There are moments in life when God does not whisper, He thunders.

Psalm 77 paints a picture of the Almighty displaying His power across creation. Thunder rolls through the heavens, lightning splits the darkness, and the earth itself trembles beneath His authority. This is not the image of a weak or distant god. This is the God who spoke galaxies into existence, parted the Red Sea, and raised His Son from the grave.

Yet how often do we allow our fears, problems, and uncertainties to appear larger than God Himself?

The same voice that shook the earth at creation still speaks today through His Word. The same hand that commands the storm still guides the believer. The same God who caused mountains to tremble is the God who knows your name, hears your prayers, and numbers the hairs on your head.

When life feels out of control, remember this: the storm is never greater than the One who commands it. The earth may shake, nations may rage, and circumstances may change overnight, but God remains unmoved upon His throne.

If the thunder reminds us of anything, it is this, God is still God, and He has never lost control.

Prayer🙏

Heavenly Father, when the storms of life surround me, help me remember Your power and Your presence. Remind me that the God who shakes the earth is also the God who holds me securely in His hands. Strengthen my faith and help me trust You completely. In Jesus' name, Amen.
