#gslisdml An application even a short one could be a good way of filtering out potential social media account managers who are not totally vested in the vision/responsibilities of the digital marketing efforts of a library.
#gslisdml The integration of the use of Snapchats could boost user engagement with millennials and especially gen z! College universities who wish to promote their services and events should tap into this social media app instead of relying on traditional email blasts.
#gslisdml How many libraries are thinking about the following when creating a digital marketing strategy: “The value of social media platforms is the reciprocal nature that creates community and spreads information;following and being followed, sharing and discovering content.
#gslisdml In the “Teen Social” video, it was interesting to hear Gen Z users perceive Snapchat as an active platform and a safer digital space from bullying compared to Instagram since Snapchat is ephemeral in nature.
#gslisdml I was surprised that Luttrell's definition of "consistency" included not only tone but imagery, color palette, and voice. It just goes to show that an effective social media platform requires much thought and attention to the smallest details.
Week 2 Takeaways:
#gslisdml Taken by surprise by the fact that there are close to 130 tools to assess web accessibility which gives no excuse for your web content not to meet accessibility guidelines
#gslisdml It was interesting to see different social media platforms being popular to a specific subset of the population (i.e. high income, educated, Latino community). Libraries should take note and choose appropriate platforms to utilize depending on their community users.
5)As seen by VPL"s strategic directions, it is important to always start with an assessment of current state followed by the analysis of a problem. The final step being suggesting strategies to resolve problematic areas within the institution.

@c_lorac@CrowdsourceJM It's a good point that you bring up, but I think the digital divide won't improve simply due to the passing of generations. Sadly, one of the factors driving the digital divide is socioeconomic status, which often gets passed down to the next generation without much change.
@CrowdsourceJM I cant help by think that digital collections in some ways further exacerbate the “digital divide” among the library user population. Access and impact will increase for the tech saavy but what about the others who are less tech-inclined? #NLDigIntern
@CrowdsourceJM For some reason, it didn't upload the background map image even though I pinned Alaska, US? Do you think I may have missed a step in the tutorial?
@lisaanncurtin I think that' s a persisting issue with these transcription projects in general.
I'm surprised that someone hasn't created a digital handwriting recognition software that would automatically transcribe old, cursive handwriting images into legible letters. 😂 #nldigintern
@CrowdsourceJM As Hyning et al. mentions volunteer choice is a feature that promotes volunteer engagement and retention, but for our own Zooniverse transcription project we are randomly assigned objects to create metadata. Was this an intentional decision made? #NLDigIntern
