@FoodProfessor Yes, devil is in the details which most people overlook. Canadian exporters often pay the US tariffs (and sometimes face Canadian ones too) mainly because many act as the importer of record in the United States, rather than leaving that role to the US buyer.

New Zealand’s Immigration and Protection Tribunal reportedly rejected all 40 published asylum cases linked to Khalistan activism decided in 2025 and 2026. 15 in 2025 and 25 so far in 2026.

The 0/40 outcome follows two grants in 2024 involving applicants with high-profile online advocacy and sustained separatist activities.

The tribunal’s position appears clear: participation in a non-binding Khalistan referendum, protests outside the Indian High Commission, or general political sympathy does not alone establish persecution.

Applicants must show that Indian authorities know of their activities and that they face a genuine, individualised risk.
