@holisticbaddie Idc, I had a hard time w things growing up. I always wanted my parents to save money. Time spent together is more my love language than anything. I know bc my dad passed away. I don’t need anything of his really,He’s in my heart. I only need him, I’ve only ever just needed others
Something shifted in me in the past couple years since I hit 30 and I believe a lot of Millenials are seeing this shift as well.
I have done everything I was ever told that would make me successful.
I busted my ass and worked my way up the ladder (hell, I make more money than 95% of others in this country)
I became dependable.
I built a life that looks good on paper.
But now I am sitting here...in my 30s thinking that I don't want to do this anymore.
I don't want the same version of success that my parents and grandparents thought I needed.
I still want money (duh)
I still want ambition.
But mainly, I want time.
Slow mornings.
Random spur of the moment trips away with my family.
I don't want to spend my whole life recovering from work on a Saturday and then preparing for work on a Sunday.
Not because I am lazy. I am the least lazy person you will ever meet.
Not because I hate work.
But because I have finally realized that there has to be more to life than the version of success I was sold as a kid.
Am I the only one feeling this way right now?
@kkrespawned Not part of the generation either but I’m also part of my dad died generation and I’ll let my sons stay with their dad a little longer even if it means they might not adjust the best. Bc if I could have had that, I would have. I didn’t adjust good either way. #sensitivesally
@tanylake I so relate to ppl not listening to part. Maybe I am terrible at articulating anything but almost everytime, I warn them of things, or tell them my findings, they don’t see it, then a couple months later they figure it out bc they have to. Complex work sux. explaining complex sux
My therapist asked me what I would do with my time if no one needed anything from me for a full week. I said I had no idea. She asked if that felt like freedom or like panic. Panic, I said, immediately. She said, when empty time feels like a threat, it means your identity is entirely built on being needed. And that is a fragile thing to build a life on. I drove home and looked at my diary and noticed how little of it was actually mine.
@tanylake recently discovered that there might be heat going on between some ppl I know. If I would have been in an environment I was always in I would have got roped in. I think God was looking out for me and removed me so the confrontation would avoid me. God knows what he’s doing🙏🫂
i wake up, i cry over spilt milk, put all of my eggs in one basket, bite off more than i can chew, jump the gun, fly off the handle and then die on that hill
My discoveries when trying to fix anal gland issues on the dog. Vets thought I was looney for wanting high fiber in dogs diet and not the stuff they wanted. Haven’t had a single anal gland issue in years. I’ve tested this too, and went back low fiber and gland issues reappear🫨
My toddler is only ever going to be this age once. This time is so very precious. Like a stream of water, I can't hold on to it, itll just slip through my fingers, but I can feel it pass. This is awful
Men say women are too uptight about cleanliness.
I see you as a fellow slob, but I RAISE you as a female slob.
I have ADHD. I'm clean (sanitize surfaces frequently, clean bathroom, clean sheets), but I'm a clutter monster.
Zero men I've lived with have celebrated how "relaxed" I am.
Because men subconsciously expect women to do what I call house elf labor.
You don't notice a spotless kitchen with everything put away even if you never bother to put things away.
You notice when a woman you live with ALSO doesn't bother to put things away.
And you get quite frustrated about it. You turn into the "nags" you hate.
Men bitch when a woman is tidier than he is and expects him to try, but they bitch harder when a woman is on his level or worse.
You call her uptight, but if she stopped bothering for a month, you'd drown in your own filth and blame her for it 💀
Very chic as a woman to fuel yourself properly, understand your menstrual cycle, have confidence in who you are, not be a gossip, read books and write letters, stand up for what you believe in, have friendships that last decades, understand energy and prioritise yourself.
One day you wake up and your family is gone and you have started your own family that developed in a blink of an eye and you are sitting wondering about life, and realize that it’s super short. A super short life filled with MEH. You could say I’m in a bit of a rut.
If you live to be 84, that’s 30 years. Wouldn’t you tell a 20 year old that between now and age 50, they were going to live a lot of life? You’re no different.
@GreatLakesWife_ I think it goes away with time. The feeling that you should do it all, but then we are *brutally reminded that we cannot do it all. Again, and again, and again until we say maybe you should just try this time tonight 😉
