@end3of6days9 Been doing it the old fashioned way for years. My yield obviously varies, but averages about 25:1.
My daughter in law got gestational diabetes with her second child. Her glucose level wasn’t affected by my syrup.
@NoJoe64@Pa_Turkey_Man@ohiodnr Was just out over the weekend in southeastern Minnesota. My son got a nice Tom, I had one coming in until a real hen walked in front of him and he spun and followed her. What was unusual, there was no other shooting heard. Plenty of gobbling, no one hunting. 3rd season. Prime
Put a plug in the sink. Fill the sink with water (not dishes), pull the plug. A properly vented sink should form a swirling tornado in the water if it is vented correctly.
I’m guessing you have a plugged sewer line and may have to call a sewer line cleaning company to snake it clean.
@NoJoe64 I’ve never seen a wad so chewed up like that. You may be right about the choke tube. Does anyone you know have one you could borrow just to try?
@NoJoe64 It’s a Remington Super Full Choke for Hevi-Shot, lead, or steel. I have it on my Remington 11-87. I want a very tight pattern and this choke does that
@TheRob1772 Amazon sells birch taps.
After maple syruping, I lose interest. Plus the weather is such it’s time to move on to outside work cleaning up after a long winter
@TheRob1772 Same with turkey fryer. I went to a 100# LP tank instead of the 20# tanks so that the locals didn’t suspect me of cooking meth, swapping so many tanks out.
I’ve read that you can make birch syrup, but I’ve never tried it.
@TheRob1772 I’m old school. Taps and buckets. When the sap finally decided to run this year, I gathered 50 gallons on 35 trees in 24 hrs. Total cooked down this spring around 80 gallons. I average about a 25:1 ratio, so anticipating 26 pints which should last till next spring
@KatFromAlaska@catturd2@MarcusBearer I considered myself lucky if I was on the wagon stacking bales. Otherwise it was in the hay mow dodging bales falling off the elevator and breathing chaff and dust in stifling heat to stack them in the barn. Good memories
@weirbeard1 I would say that the thief out country’d you. Having an outhouse is definitely country, but having to steal your outhouse is at a whole new level
@DaleStarkA10@blakealbers I buy local farm raised Limousine steer, grass fed, finished with corn, every year from a local farmer. Take it to a local butcher. This year, a hanging 1/2 weight of 514#. With butcher fees, I paid $5/# for some of the best beef you can find. Well worth it
