Fathers have failed their children.
South Africa’s “official” unemployment rate is 32.7%. The expanded rate, including discouraged workers, is closer to 43–44%.
Youth unemployment sits above 60%.
Experts say we need 5%+ sustained growth just to seriously reduce unemployment. This would take 20 - 40 years to cut it in half at a growth percent of 5%. (An extremely positve outlook or scenario, but not relealistic)
Our economy has averaged under 1% growth for most of the last decade.
At this pace, not only will this generation struggle — your children, and your children’s children, will still be unemployed and in poverty.
“Poverty is not only inherited through empty pockets, but through the poor decisions of one generation passed down to the next.”

Celebrating Soldiers returning from Congo:
None of the objectives were achieved by SANDF , M23 managed to expand its territory capturing key cities such as Goma (including the airport), Bukavu and the SAMIDC base.
Casualties were 14 South Africans, 3 Malawian, 3 Tanzanian, 1 Uruguayan.
Military equipment destroyed so far is : Armoured personnel Carrier , Trucks, Casspirs and Mambas, damaged helicopter.
Military equipment has not been released back to the SANDF.
M23 surrounded 1000 to 2000 South African soldiers.
Supply routes to and from the base is controlled and monitored by M23. The SANDF had to seek permission and terms allowed by M23, for these soldiers to be released
The SANDF were under-resourced, lacking firepower, ground support, transport, and air support. Specialists estimated that South Africa needed 20 000 soldiers on the ground to deal with armed groups in the area.
The logistics is still taking long and been problematic, as we still have to retrieve more soldiers and hopefully equipment aswell.
This was a defeat for the SANDF, it has not only costed the lives of soldiers, the implications of this incident have placed South Africa in a precarious situation and potentially exposed us to various threats.
As the world watches, our neighbours, allies and even adversaries are forming opinions about our current state. This has highlighted vulnerabilities, it suggests to external groups in Mozambique that we are weak , underfunded and disorganized in our military capabilities.
This perception can lead to serious ramifications for our national security and stability.
