🍀 Hard Fork Announcement

To resolve the replay attack, the LKY network will be executing a hard fork at block 276,500, scheduled for Thursday at noon (UTC).

For exchanges and mining pools: We're asking you to pause deposits, withdrawals, trading, and reward claims until you have upgraded your node and the hard fork is complete. We've notified all exchanges listing LKY and most mining pools about this update.

Miners: No need to stop mining, but heads up, anything mined from block 276,500 onwards on the old version will be rolled back with the hard fork.

Users: We recommend you don't send or receive LKY during this transition time. Wait until everything's updated, including the Chrome extension wallet, to avoid any issues.

The node code repository will be made available for everyone right after the fork, so you can easily update your nodes.

As a recap, Luckycoin $LKY wallets comprising ~3M LKY were reactivated due to a replay attack using older versions of LKY, replaying 2014-2015 transactions that occurred.

We know that the replay attacker is in direct control of at least 1.6M LKY and they have been actively attempting to sell these in exchanges.

To protect the LKY community exchanges have disabled deposits until we have deployed a fix, and we thank all exchanges that currently list LKY for doing so.

We are actively working with @Verichains on the hard fork. Once these fixes are in place, deposits will be unlocked and normal operations can resume.

Ongoing Fixes:

1️⃣ Patching Underway: We’re actively working with @Verichains on upgrades to prevent future replay attacks.
2️⃣ Explorer Fixes: The explorer has been displaying incorrect balances in the holders overview (individual wallet pages were displaying accurately) and we are actively deploying a fix for this.
3️⃣ Security Priority: The network is stable, and we’re taking every measure to reinforce its resilience. Both the Core Wallet and Extension Wallet are operational.

Over the past week, several 2013-era Luckycoin $LKY wallets reactivated as a result of a replay attack.

Thanks to @Verichains and the contribution of our community, a replay attack that affected dormant tokens from Luckycoin’s original 2013 chainstate (blocks 1–81,347) was identified.
Attackers used old chain copies to replicate transactions from 2014–2015, re-commandeering tokens they originally owned - much of which were then sold on exchanges.

Key Points 💡
Newly Mined Coins Unaffected: This does not impact any LKY mined after block 81,347, nor wallets created in 2024 and later.

Supply Remains Unchanged: This replay attack doesn’t alter total supply or affect newly generated tokens.

Transaction Replay: Old transactions were copied precisely (same inputs, outputs, and addresses). Some of these replayed transactions are being claimed by users who still hold private keys from 2015, contributing to recent sell pressure.

Temporary Deposit Pauses on major centralized exchanges to allow for node upgrades and patching, preventing future replay attacks.

$LKY is the face of Luckycoin and unlike many other "restarts" on the market, it kept the OG chain state that was publicly available on Bitcointalk - picking up from block 81,743.

Luckycoin therefore bridges an 11-year gap, preserving its genesis block, complete with a Satoshi-style inscription from 2013.
