I get the sentiment behind nothing ever happens but things do happen. Covid and lockdowns happened. This Iran war happened. The 2008 crash happened and a lot of ppl were affected in real ways. People would have called you crazy right up until the moment the Soviet Union disintegrated.

The debt thing is real imo. It doesn’t matter who owns it, the point is twofold. 1) it compels constant accelerating inflation. Most people are becoming poorer. At some point people will begin to check out of the wage economy into barter, again very late Soviet style. This eventually leads to nothing working as the govt own employees steal everything that’s not nailed down rather than enforce govt policies. Whole thing collapses. 2) congress has to keep voting to raise debt ceiling. As things deteriorate the probability that they fail to do so gets higher and higher. At some point they blink, we soft default. At the very least, interest rate goes up a bunch and it accelerates 1) even more

Imagine the US balkanizing. The federal govt has become too paralyzed to act, has defaulted on the debt, supply chains have major disruptions, etc. not very hard to imagine, it happened in 1991. Each new piece gets to set up a new govt (or devolve into a failed state). Perhaps the least pozzed one can be influenced in the right direction. Best case scenario at this point
