To identify the register and its parameters, I analyzed the function in the ESP8266’s compiled ELF (from the official SDK) using Ghidra. The decompiled code showed it calculates the register address using:

FINALLYYY!!! I can finally run the ESP8266 at 80 MHz or 160 MHz! Espressif never documented how to enable the PLL, so in bare-metal mode it’s stuck at 52 MHz (from the 26 MHz crystal). No mention of PLL in the TRM at all! 🥲

I searched on internet and someone decompiled proprietary bootloader of ESP8266 and found this (https://t.co/PcdT7aLDFD) code. Even in this code, you can't tell what register is used.
