In order to get "ALT season" like so many people want, ETH/BTC needs to bottom and start trending higher.

As long as ETH/BTC goes lower, then ALT season is delayed.

So many people assume that BTC dominance going higher is a negative thing for crypto, when in reality it is a positive thing.

Alt Season occurs from high Bitcoin dominance levels, not low Bitcoin dominance levels.

Normally Bitcoin dominance does go down in post-halving years, so my assumption is that dominance does end the year in the red at this point, but so far dominance has gone up this year.

A lot of people make me out to the bad guy for talking about the devaluation of ALT/BTC pairs for the last 3 years when I was just trying to showcase the advantages of being Bitcoin heavy rather than altcoin heavy.

If you view my posts about ALT/BTC pairs as "negative" then it is probably because your view of the cryptoverse is warped and you don't understand that Bitcoin leads bull markets, not altcoins.

ETH/BTC has already gone lower than I thought it would go. I don't really want it to go any lower but I also have seen people for 3 years desperately call for alt season only to be wrong time and time again.

If anything, their chances of being right have gone up this year since it is the post-halving year. Regardless of what happens as the year goes on, I think this cycle has taught everyone a lot about how the market cycles work.

→ $BTC saw a mini bounce to 98.5K before rejecting back into the range at 95K. We’ll likely remain rangebound until the CPI data release later today, along with Powell’s speech, which is expected to bring volatility to the markets.

→ $ETH recorded its largest exchange net outflow in nearly two years, with 224,410 $ETH moving off exchanges. This signals investor confidence, as tokens may be moved to self custody for long-term holding.

→ $BTC dominance is consolidating between 61-62%, while $ETH dominance is retesting 10%—its lowest level since January 2021.

→ Powell testified before Congress with a couple of key statements—"Quantitative easing is a tool we use when rates are already at zero"—signaling that QE may be further away than many would like.

→ On a positive note, Powell also vowed never to allow the use of a CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) as long as he is Fed Chair.

→ SEC Commissioner Peirce explained that meme coins currently have "no home" under existing SEC regulations and that congressional action would be required for further regulation to occur.

→ Trump’s WLFI announced their 'macro strategy,' a strategic token reserve designed to bolster top cryptos. So far, only $BTC and $ETH have been mentioned.

→ Rumours circulated about Binance selling massive amounts of customer reserves, but @BinanceHelpDesk confirmed they did not sell—stating it was only an accounting adjustment and that user funds are safe.

→ Japan followed through on easing crypto regulations, cutting taxes from 55% down to 20%.

→ BlackRock has now classified $BTC as "risk-off" as a global monetary alternative, while $ETH is considered "risk-on" as a blockchain play.

→ @coinbase announced their first-ever X Space, featuring CEO @brianarmstrong, set for February 18th at 5 PM ET, one week from today.

→ OTHERS (market cap excluding the top ten) has seen a slight decline to $265B over the past 24 hours, though certain altcoin sectors are outperforming.

📈 DeFAI and AI agents are showing the strongest relative strength following yesterday’s market bounce, with DeFAI up +10.9% and AI agents up +6.45%.

📈 The top price performers include $ARC (+38%), $AI16Z (+36%), and $GRIFFAIN (+18%).

📈 Outside of the AI rally, DePin and RWA show the best relative mindshare performance, with DePin at #1 (77%) and RWA at #2 (76%).

📈 The top trending token in DePin is $PIN, while the top trending token in RWA is $ONDO.

→ Uniswap has now launched its $ETH Layer 2, 'Unichain.'

→ Solana is leading DEX trading volume for the second straight month, surpassing $ETH and all L2s combined.
