Inside there isn't one giant brain. There's a router that decides, on the fly, which "experts" inside the model get activated for each token.
The hidden dimension is 7168. It gets compressed down to 3584. That's the bottleneck everything has to pass through.
From there the router fans the signal out across hundreds of experts, but only a handful fire at once. Plus two shared experts that are always on.
Out of 2.8 trillion parameters, only a small slice actually gets computed per token. That's the whole reason a model this big can run outside a hyperscaler's data center.
