Triangle Man is a decent front end designer, but he knows nothing about networks. He keeps having to make this point because he has built Vercel on top of AWS which charges him for bandwidth so he has to pass that cost onto his customers or he'll go bankrupt. Cloudflare, on the other hand, built our own network so bandwidth is largely free for us. The best judge of the 'quality' of bandwidth is how peered an organization is. Here's a list of the most peered networks in the world: https://t.co/WCHJ5siUid. Amazon is very good with about 600 networks it peers with, but Cloudflare has more than twice that number. That means that the default bandwidth you get for free from Cloudflare is actually more likely to be fast and reliable than the Amazon bandwidth you pay for from Vercel
Anthropic's CEO claims AI hallucinates less than humans.
Bold statement.
So I decided to test it by feeding the same FAKE theories to ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini to see which one calls me out first.
The results shocked me 🧵
If you’re an AI engineer or builder that relies on GPT4 and are worried about the API collapsing, here’s a contingency plan for you to follow:
First things first, make sure you apply to the Azure OpenAI service (link in replies). You can use it as a drop-in replacement for GPT4, as well as benefit from decreased latency and access to GPT4-32K. Supposedly Azure will also support GPT4-V, GPT4 FT and multimodal soon but this is TBD given all the chaos. Yes, it’s a pain in the ass to use Microsoft APIs, but this is still probably the fastest way to derisk. Also if you apply through Microsoft for Startups (link below) you’ll get $150K of Azure credits 🤑
Second, if you’re looking to move away from OAI/MSFT entirely, you should consider using Anthropic’s Claude. I’ve found Claude 2 to actually be better than GPT4 at many use cases (conversation, content generation, summarization). Claude still isn’t great at understanding logic/code so be wary of that. It also requires a slightly different style of prompting for best results - might release a guide on this in the future
If neither of these options work for you, your *last* resort should be to use GPT4 to generate synthetic data so you can fine-tune an OSS LLM (Mistral/LLaMa/Phi). This route requires the most engineering lift and technical risk, so caveat emptor. Will include link to some guides/resources below!
I deeply regret my participation in the board's actions. I never intended to harm OpenAI. I love everything we've built together and I will do everything I can to reunite the company.
Sam and I are shocked and saddened by what the board did today.
Let us first say thank you to all the incredible people who we have worked with at OpenAI, our customers, our investors, and all of those who have been reaching out.
We too are still trying to figure out exactly what happened. Here is what we know:
- Last night, Sam got a text from Ilya asking to talk at noon Friday. Sam joined a Google Meet and the whole board, except Greg, was there. Ilya told Sam he was being fired and that the news was going out very soon.
- At 12:19pm, Greg got a text from Ilya asking for a quick call. At 12:23pm, Ilya sent a Google Meet link. Greg was told that he was being removed from the board (but was vital to the company and would retain his role) and that Sam had been fired. Around the same time, OpenAI published a blog post.
- As far as we know, the management team was made aware of this shortly after, other than Mira who found out the night prior.
The outpouring of support has been really nice; thank you, but please don’t spend any time being concerned. We will be fine. Greater things coming soon.
@CoinbaseExch regularly monitors the markets on our exchange. In an effort to improve overall market health and consolidate liquidity, we will be removing a number of non-USD trading pairs for certain supported assets.
🚀 Aujourd'hui, c'était conférence exceptionnelle de Luc Julia, expert mondial en matière d’intelligence artificielle, co-créateur de la technologie Siri et maintenant directeur scientifique de Renault. 🤯
En retransmission pour les autres campus du #42Network!
The Ecole 42 audience was definitely one of the best we have ever had: sharp, focused questions, clarity, and undivided attention! Gratitude to @fabcotech for helping to organize this talk and gratitude to #Ecole42 for hosting us. You are doing great work!
