@GeoFio8 Thank you! ♥️ They were expected to be invisible. The irony is they had no incentive to draw attention to themselves as they never lost their fear of betrayal to the authorities on some pretext. Today, they would rightly fear being pitted against Scottish Council bureaucrats!

@GeoFio8 @lawful_guardian @CareInspect I agree! Social workers are incentivised to direct people to the care homes the Council favours - specifically, the cheapest, least well-resourced. The lack of due diligence means disclosures of abuse will be routinely covered up for fear of how they will reflect on the Council!

@lawful_guardian That's kind, thank you! And, I believe you are right in your use of the word "torture" but, aside from covering up disclosures of abuse and whitewashing the reputations of favoured care home owners, my social worker is clear that "We're not here to discuss the Human Rights Act"!

I became a better person at 14: sitting opposite my best friend on a train trip, having fallen out with her for some silly reason, I smirked at her; misconstruing my smirk, she smiled warmly at me & caught me unawares. 90 years on, I think of her daily and her disarming smile! ❤️

Are you aware that it's common practice for care home managers to create division in families by proposing to residents' next-of-kin or powers-of-attorney, on some spurious pretext, that other family members can be barred from visiting? It's hideous!

@kt2690 @rightsforresid2 Could it possibly be that the owner of the @scottishcare 'award-winning' care home who kept us in solitary confinement in our bedrooms for 2 years before selling up to a care group, having had no residents succumb to Covid, was motivated purely by self-interest? I wonder!

@CarolanneMainl1 @RichardnotatKF @HHCarers @scottishcare @homecareassn In my experience, Scotland's social care regulator - @CareInspect - has no discernible expertise in regulation or compliance and fails to act so as to ensure that care providers are held to account when things go badly wrong, investigating only 5% of complaints in 2020/21.

@GeoFio8 @CareInspect The most grotesque aspect of the whole farce is that, by failing to investigate my disclosures of abuse in any meaningful way, the @CareInspect may, in effect, have given the green light to my abuser/s to abuse others. That's something I dare not contemplate.

@GeoFio8 I'm so grateful for your support!❤️ They scared the living daylights out of me in that care home. My medical records show that they demanded that my GP should prescribe sedatives and determine me incapax within a month of my admission. The good doctor had the sense to refuse!

@lawful_guardian How fortunate I am to be rescued from an under-resourced care home where residents were routinely sedated. The minute I felt the effects of the chemical cosh, I'd panic. I'd then sit all day reeling off family names & birthdays on my fingers, scared that I was losing my mind!
