Quite staggering to see a cluster of amateur weather stations in SW Edinburgh recorded between 130mm and 148mm of rain, between midday on Wednesday and 5am this morning.
If you look closely, you can see our volunteers planting shrubby willow and hawthorn in the Devil's Beeftub. We're still a long way from having the forest the reivers would have hidden cattle in, but it's a start! @BordersForest
It's always nice to see the spring flowers coming out in the garden. The best and most reliable are the dandelions which are also great for insect pollinators.
You don't have to be tough to volunteer for @BordersForest, but sometimes it helps. The juniper we've been planting are small now but will one day look like these on he south shore of Ullswater.
If you don't find this concerning, you really don't understand how bad things are getting. Yes, there's an El Niรฑo at the moment, but the sea surface temperature anomaly has never been so extreme during previous El Niรฑos.
