We were delighted to be at the official opening of the @uhsussex helipad last week!
The helipad allows faster access to hospital for critically ill and injured patients, making a real difference to patient care across our communities. Thanks to everyone who made this possible 🚁
In the last decade- ergo 2016-2026- over 10 years?
There have been 8 Secretary of State for Health - overseeing the #NHS
It could now be 9
That is the level of consistency NHS leadership has had to deal with.

Yep, I trained for 19 years, I have an additional 21 years of consultant experience. I’m on the top of the consultant pay scale. Seeing me with complex cancer, stone or fertility issue costs the taxpayer £18 before tax. A cardiology consultant saving your life at 3am £94. Bargain.
Jordan…
‘Lovely day, Sgt. What are you up to?’
‘Waiting, Sir.’
‘No work to do?’
‘I am working, Sir.’
‘So waiting is working.’
‘Exactly. If there’s a casualty, I’ll earn a day’s money in twenty minutes.’
‘And if there isn’t a casualty?’
‘Then we’ve had a good day, Sir.’

Another tax year done, another year my loan grows. Despite working more than full time as a doctor in my third year of practice my salary repayments don’t even cover the interest on my loan. What a farce of a system.
No. Doctors did not oppose the formation of the NHS. They opposed being govt employees
Doctors, dentists, pharmacists, and opticians all opposed becoming state-employees.
They were worried that the government would undermine their profession (and salaries).
Crazy, right?
I usually illustrate my Heaviness Hypothesis* with AMU data. But I wondered if ED heaviness explains ED length of stay better than mere ED fullness does. And it does! (Though it's marginal!)
(*ED exit block is better explained by AMU heaviness than it is by mere AMU fullness.)
