MSFT designs plenty of hardware and most “hardware” companies outsource physical production including integration. Even vertically integrated Apple products are delegated to contract manufacturers and integrators. NVidia, a “hardware” company, outsources GPU production to TSMC and integration to a cadre of manufacturers.

@elonmusk’s point still stands since all the design intelligence resides in the software. Hardware all starts as software. As AI takes over greater portions of design, verification, validation and QAQC, we will see MSFT, NVDA, and others only keeping the most astute and effective people to oversee the AI.

The Federal government computers & software are in such bad shape that they often cannot verify that payments are not fraud, waste or abuse!

That’s why the government can’t pass basic audits. They often LITERALLY don’t know where your tax dollars went. It’s insane.

My preferred title in the new administration is Volunteer IT Consultant. Need to fix the IT infrastructure in order to make government work. This is a grind & hardly glorious, but we can’t make government efficient & fix the deficit if the computers don’t work.
