Not only is it the fair thing to do, but also because ๐บ๐ธโs GREATEST players ALL came from less affluent families! The ENTIRE tennis industry BOOMS, esp. in ๐บ๐ธ, when ๐บ๐ธ pro players from less affluent families win MANY major tournaments & vie for the World No. 1 spot!๐ช๐ป๐ช๐ผ๐ช๐ฝ๐ช๐พ๐ช๐ฟ
@EdWorkforceCmte 2019 ITF rule changes made the pathway to the pros impossible for most Americans. It was easier to get into entry-level pro tournaments before 2019 bc there was no need to play college or pricey ITF Junior tournaments. Good players of any age with no points need another way in.

@EdWorkforceCmte Why not widen the pathway for ๐บ๐ธ players to the pros even more by also returning to the pre-2019 ITF rules allowing us to play local, inexpensive USTA Menโs Open and USTA Womenโs Open for points accepted by ITF entry-level pro tournaments? Increase quali draw sizes again too.

"For millions of kids, college sports is not a professional dream. It's the next rung on the ladder. Take away enough rungs and eventually kids stop climbing."
Former professional tennis player Patrick McEnroe warns that young American athletes may start questioning the traditional path of college sports as they see rosters filled with older, fully developed players from around the world, some with professional experience.
He says the concern goes beyond who gets a roster spot today. It's about what a 15 or 16-year-old believes is possible tomorrow.

@vanshv2k@thefedexpresss If youโre not a pro player, can you, at least, see how it would be much easier to hit a winner against players like Alcaraz and Sinner on a smooth surface using a big, flat shot to the open court? @ptpaplayers
@pavyg This is something @ptpaplayers should bring to the table during negotiations. If weโre serious about preventing injuries and promoting career longevity, weโll go back to real grass and fast hard courts of the 70s-90s where points were quicker and fans still loved the sport.
@vanshv2k@thefedexpresss Flat shots drag and pop up on these modified hard courts, giving opponents time, whereas topspin doesnโt drag and, therefore, will move through the court quicker than flat shots. This is why, on smoother surfaces like polished wood, flat shots are better, and topspin is useless.
@vanshv2k@thefedexpresss Both the balls and the courts have slowed down. Flat hitters no longer see their balls skid quickly and stay as low anymore on grass and hard courts. Instead, flat shots drag and pop up, giving opponents time. This is what players are getting at. Are you an ATP player?
@Obatsp@Olly_Tennis_ It doesnโt have to be super fast or super slow. They need to find the right balance somewhere in between so that many other players can succeed and create large fan followings to satisfy tournament director concerns, but hard courts and grass should never be as slow as clay.
@marramirem5 And donโt forget about the fake fans scattered around the stadium stands whom they hired to cheer for their upcoming players. Next time youโre in a stadium, see if you can spot them. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
