@lgillespie29 Sometimes, our middle school parents feel left behind as agency is shifting to the student. This is a great way to ensure all stakeholders are in the loop! #edu903
Man if I had #Schoology when I religiously read 'The BFG' (by @roald_dahl ) with every class! I would have used virtual field trips embedded within Schoology to give them real-world examples of England and other locations they talk about! What way to make the story come to life!
Started implementing Schoology in my class this week. This new feature for tests is AMAZING! I can now have my students highlight their evidence and practice those reading skills. Love it π #DalmatianStrong#HBEDalmatians#Schoology
@Jennawagner2019 I have recently been doing doodle notes with students. Since my content area has standards that focus on developing listening skills, my colleague and I have created a fantastic resource for helping kids track their thinking while listening through doodles!
I love that a flipped classroom seems to open a path for other instructional overhaul strategies - inquiry based learning, project based learning, etc. #EDU903
@lgillespie29 I have been wondering how this model works in content area subjects versus skills subjects. As an ELA teacher, I don't use as much direct instruction as a math or science teacher. I'm interested to see how this model can evolve for a skills-based classroom. #EDU903
@lgillespie29 I agree that a flipped classroom model should only be implemented in so much as it responds to the needs of the students. No matter what the situation, a flipped class can better connect the families to the classroom and allow a simpler way for parents to get involved. #EDU903
@jksuter @lgillespie29 As a mid-level teacher, my classes are quite diverse. I think it could benefit students to access the content when they are ready - with the ability to pause the lesson, slow down the video speed, add subtitles, or alter the volume.
In learning about the flipped classroom, I'm feeling conflicted. For students with a poor home life, it seems this method of teaching could widen the privilege gap. #EDU903
COVID has put a lot into perspective for educators. Flipped learning emerged before this turning point. I'm curious how everything thinks our new understanding of student needs aligns with the tenets of a flipped class. #EDU903
@Jennawagner2019 At first, I questioned why they added "Professional Educators." After reflecting, I think some people may see the videos as replacing teachers, but ultimately, the role of teachers is even more vital as the focus shifts towards student-based learning!
@Jennawagner2019 Awesome article! I appreciate that many of these options move beyond having students merely answer questions. By having students sketch, design, or engage in mind mapping, they are more likely to remember the content!
This could be another awesome tool for embedding assessment into a flipped lecture! A student-paced Pear Deck could also help solve the potential engagement gap with video lectures! #EDU903
π Hand It Over to your students! π
One of our favorite ways to #flipclass is with Student-Paced Mode. Let your Ss work at their own pace through your Pear Deck lessons!

What criteria could we use to ensure our videos are engaging enough that students actually watch? I'll start - time limit should be 7 minutes and we should incorporate graphics! #EDU903
There seem to be very prevalent misconceptions about the flipped classroom. I'm happy to hear it doesn't force all students to fit into a rigid model. This seems like a very student responsive framework. #EDU903
