Calling all Bronx @NYCSchools parents! We need you to vote for CCEC Members for the 2023-25 term. Please visit the link below or connect with your child’s school Parent Coordinator for assistance. The deadline to vote is May 9th. https://t.co/5Bg8SGfHQa
You have an amazing Queens BP @MzGibson that would be happy to engage the students and find out what they would like to happen in their school! And Manhattan is also happy to support!
Yesterday students from my high school, Long Island City, protested the racist principals policies by staging a walk out. They reached out to Eric Adam’s & he condescendingly told em’ that walking out would do nothing & “children should stay in school” instead of supporting em’.
These programs support access to medical and mental health services, after-school programming, and leadership development opportunities for our students.
Our students are still facing mental health, academic recovery, and sociology-economic challenges. #CommunitySchools are a cost-effective investment NYS can make to address ALL these challenges. @GovKathyHochul, @CarlHeastie, and @jamaalbailey please continue to support.
Despite what @MoskowitzEva@SuccessCharters would try to have you believe, Bronx & Queens @NYCSchools students, families, educators, & communities stood together with ONE voice in opposition to another charter takeover of district community school buildings. #NoZombieCharters
Thank you @NYCSchools & NAACP Co-op City Branch for hosting a great education town hall with @DOEChancellor. We had a productive dialogue with colleagues in government, families & young people in attendance on the future of our schools and the needs of students in the community.
Bronx and Queens @SuccessCharters proposals for co-locations have been pulled. Congratulations to all the school communities, families, students, parents, advocates, activists & educators that fought so valiantly for our neighborhood public @NYCSchools *THE PEOPLE UNITED*
Also the Bronx co-location proposal will be cancelled. Let’s hope this signals a real turning point vs giving charter schools carte Blanche to undermine the quality of education of NYC public school students.
School communities at three campuses in Queens and the Bronx united to say NO to proposals to force co-locations of Success Academy charter schools with their vibrant campuses — AND THEY WON! ✊
