Based on Hirabayashi's comments, Veronica will likely be the Resident Evil remake with the most changes in the series, while still staying true to the core of the original game.
(Basically what Dusk had been saying all along)
Resident Evil Veronica will be a THIRD-person game. In addition, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi has confirmed the rumors that the game is being developed by the same team behind RE2R and RE4R.

New images from Capcom's booth at Summer Game Fest confirm that news and hands-on impressions will be released in the coming days!
This Wednesday, more details about Resident Evil Veronica will be revealed, and hands-on impressions of the game will be published by selected content creators and the gaming press once the embargo is lifted.
Capcom has released a statement on the matter:

❗️Resident Evil Veronica is a third-person camera perspective game.
According to our sources, the new Resident Evil Veronica will feature a fully third-person perspective, similar to the recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 (2019), Resident Evil 3 (2020), and Resident Evil 4 (2023).
The first-person viewpoint seen in the announcement trailer was likely a creative presentation choice. Capcom used a similar approach for the reveal trailers of Resident Evil 2 (2019) and Resident Evil 3 (2020), where certain scenes were shown from a first-person perspective despite the final games being entirely third-person experiences.
Y'all can go on Ada's tiktoks, posts and shit and comment "Leon's wife" and no one bats an eye but the moment we do that w Claire cause we like the ship suddenly is the worst thing ever on earth and we only see her to ship her w a man and bullshit y'all make up I'm so tired
🏆 Resident Evil Veronica has become the biggest Steam wishlist winner of Summer Game Fest 2026.
According to Rhys Elliott, Head of Market Analysis at Alinea Analytics, also known for market analysis featured by IGN, BBC, and The Guardian, Resident Evil Veronica generated more new Steam wishlists than any other game shown during the event.
As of June 8, the game had already surpassed 522,000 Steam wishlists, placing it ahead of every other SGF announcement.
What's even more impressive is that, according to Alinea's estimates, Resident Evil Veronica is accumulating wishlists 1.5 times faster than Resident Evil Requiem did at the same stage of its marketing campaign following its reveal at Summer Game Fest 2025.
🗓️ Data also provides an interesting look at who is wishlisting the game. Of the 500,000+ Steam users who have added Resident Evil Veronica to their wishlist:
• ~55% have played Resident Evil 2 Remake
• 53% have played Resident Evil 4 Remake
• 47% have played Resident Evil Requiem
• 10% have played Pragmata
A very strong start for what many fans have waited decades to see return.
If you're excited about Resident Evil Veronica, don't forget to add the game to your wishlist. Wishlists remain one of the most important early metrics for developers, helping them measure community interest and excitement ahead of release. Every wishlist sends a clear message to Capcom that fans are eager to see this iconic chapter make its return. ❤️
