@LastFraction0@ArmedGuineaPigs@Dexerto I know they choose what to wear and they have every right to do so but I was pointing out to the other person that the revealing clothing female athletes wore were initially mandated by men, often to capitalize on sex appeal.
@NathanielW72701@kiffboet@Dexerto We as human beings also have morals. Just because it may be an “animal instincts” we possess doesn’t mean you are entitled to act upon it. We are highly intelligent beings, it shouldn’t be hard to see that viewing women only for sex and breeding is wrong.
@dav3wuzhere@CosmicAOD@Dexerto Why are you telling women to look away anyway when it is clearly the men who need to do just that. “Our instinct” isn’t an excuse to be a creep, simple as that. You as a man should learn to look away.
@zervas_james@engineers_feed White Star Line no longer cared about speed records by the time Titanic came along, & neither Smith nor Ismay were aiming for one during the maiden voyage, this is especially true because not all of the titanic’s boilers were lit up during the trip.
The Titanic's hull steel met every quality standard of 1912.
The problem: those standards didn't include testing for cold-water impact resistance.
At 0°C (the temperature of the North Atlantic that night) the steel's fracture toughness dropped dramatically.
Instead of denting on iceberg impact, it shattered.
The Titanic wasn't sunk by bad engineering.
It was sunk by an engineering standard that hadn't asked the right question yet.
@dav3wuzhere@Dexerto It is not like the women have much choice in what they wear due to dress codes (which have gotten flexible over the years). besides sometimes it allows for better performance.
