I was on @HillTVLive with @krystalball about how a fighting movement with a socialist strategy & credible ballot initiative threat - not appealing to Democratic politicians - won Seattle's $15 min wage. Wining a federal $15 will need a fighting movement!

For the second day, fast food workers workers in Detroit are walking off the job demanding #PPE and hazard pay. We must be protected on the job. It's time for corporations like @McDonalds and @BurgerKing to step up and #ProtectAllWorkers!
The majority of low-wage workers in America today are women and people of color.
When we fight to double the minimum wage to a $15 living wage, we are fighting to advance racial, gender, and economic justice.
Every worker, no matter their race, job, or gender, deserves prosperity. Thanks to all of the organizations and front line fighters who made this happen, you are amazing! @CTUL_TC@SEIU26@15NowMN#FightFor15

@NelpNews played a significant supportive role (especially Laura Huizar) in the $15 campaign in Mpls. As did @gingerjentzen from $15Now, who led much of this fight! Congratulations to all!
BREAKING: Corporate interests tried to block a local raise to the minimum wage in Minneapolis, but workers and communities won. Congratulations to @CTUL_TC, @15nowMN and all the workers who fought for their raise!

The minimum wage is $11+ in New York State. Across the border in Pennsylvania, it's still just $7.25. Yet so far, there has been no evidence of significant job loss, even in border counties.
Really nice deep-dive from @jeannasmialek:

New Fed study: Natural experiment, NY adopted #FightFor15 min wage increase, PA didn't. Result: NY worker wages up and no adverse impact on employment vs. PA. Yup, more evidence min wage increases really work! https://t.co/efXh5lMWcw @NickHanauer@GoldyHA@civicskunkworks
It's disappointing and disgusting that Burger King's:
- co-owner (Jorge Paulo Lemann) is worth $22.2 billion
- cashiers are paid as little as $8.25 an hour
- starvation wages are being subsidized to the tune of $356 million a year by U.S. taxpayers

Former Bonchon employees have still not been paid the full back wages stolen by management over the months last year. Join us on May 7th to step out against wage theft and in support of these workers! Check out our Facebook group for more info. https://t.co/ObI9R9r9gG
HUGE strike happening now in New England: 31,000 Stop and Shop grocery workers off the job. Setting aside teachers, looks to me like the biggest U.S. strike since Verizon in '16. Fight is over health care costs and pension cuts for new hires.
