It's how they track the work and make it most efficient. It's a very least they can do for these remote check-ins. The honor system clearly hasn't worked.

@jake_zuckerman Administrative staff have grown exponentially while student levels have stayed relatively the same. This is a manufactured crisis. Some administrative staff do one hour worth of work a week for 40 hours of pay. One of the biggest fleecing of today's society.
