Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie details how she saved taxpayers $33 MILLION by forgoing new uniforms, a cold plunge and massage tables and NOT getting logos printed all over everything.
This completely shuts down Grady Judd and Greg Tony’s bullshit.
“We are paying the county $54 million a year for IT services. Through closer supervision and careful review of spending, we brought that down to $42 million, a $12 million annual savings without reducing services. And as we work toward managing our own technology independently, we project another $6 to $7 million in annual savings, bringing that cost down to approximately $35 to $36 million.
That's an $18 to $19 million in annual IT savings already achieved or projected. Personnel, eliminating the county's Sargent-at-Arms program will save approximately $4.1 million annually and return those deputies to core law enforcement functions. We have also adjusted patrol schedules to improve coverage and reduce the need for overtime through better scheduling.
Uniforms and vehicles. Keeping our existing brown uniforms, instead of changing to green, avoided approximately $4.8 million in costs. Updating graphics on approximately 1,700 existing white vehicles, instead of repainting them, avoided another $5.7 million.
These two practical decisions alone account for $10.5 million. Our purchasing and operating, buying office supplies directly from the vendor that the county uses, saved us approximately $200,000 annually. Through a state cooperative contract, we are also obtaining fuel incentives and rebates of up to $0.15 per gallon, maintenance discounts of up to 20% from participating providers and discounting on our tire replacements.
Together, the items we have quantified represent approximately $32.8 to $33.8 million in savings and avoided costs, including the changes that we are still processing. Fuel, maintenance, and scheduling efficiencies add further savings beyond that total. And we are only getting started.”
Vivek Ramaswamy defends his ad featuring Amy Acton's estranged mother:
"Politics is a tough sport. You point out where you think your opponents are flawed."
I've been a Republican since the Reagan years.
But after 38 years, I took a leap I never thought I would and voted for a Democrat.
Florida is just too important to me to entrust it to someone like Byron Donalds.
You got my vote @davidjollyfl
Good luck and govern well.
Anna Paulina Luna is making life more expensive for her constituents while flying on campaign-funded private jets and cashing in on government contracts. She puts herself first and FL-13 last. @leelajgray is going to flip this seat! https://t.co/Fh9WlPEhPD
Anna Paulina Luna preaches transparency yet blocks half of X.
Typically, she blames Chinese bots for exposing her husband’s stake in a drone company that he bought right before they landed $75 million in pentagon contracts.
How is this different from insider trading @RepLuna?
Despite officially reporting that her husband's stake in a drone startup is only valued at $1000, the pro-Russian Florida congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna is actually swimming in cash, with the Pentagon handing that company $37 million.
Very nice scoop from @MotherJones, but missing a bit of flavor. Anna Paulina Luna has become Kirill Dmitriev's agent of influence in U.S. Congress and she routinely insists Ukraine is the real obstacle to peace and Russia is the best friend America just hadn't made yet. Bet you'll never guess who her husband's drone company, Nocturnal AI, partners with to boost its bottom line and secure those lucrative Pentagon contracts. Wait for it... https://t.co/x2jwm29mee
Ohio was +10 and Florida was +20 Republican just four years ago. But, the GOP, in its infinite wisdoms, chose to run these two candidates for governor and now both races are seemingly lost.
We don’t hate them enough.
$32 billion — the amount of property tax revenue extracted by local governments in 2019.
$49 billion — the amount local governments would take in for 2026 if the 2019 baseline had been maintained with increases for population growth and inflation.
$62 billion — the actual amount local governments are taking from the people in property taxes in 2026.
$84 billion — the amount local governments will take from taxpayers in 2031 based on current trajectory.
Yes on 3 — the only way to protect taxpayers and put money back in people’s pockets.
