Iran may have no navy and no air force, but Iran still has the IRGC, a large army, and most of all, a regime ideology that has not been defeated (we have not armed the Iranian people to try to take it out).  They are still shooting ballistic missiles and drones (and it's not clear if those weapons are part of the negotiations, although none of it will ultimately be enforceable).  It appears we are protecting Hezbollah from annihilation (no, Israel is not at war with Lebanon), which is Iran's most powerful militia and has killed and maimed Americans for the last 40 years, and Hamas is rearming rather than disarming (again, Israel sought to destroy it).  This does not bode well for the future, certainly after the conclusion of the Trump administration.  Moreover, I don't think Communist China, our biggest threat, is impressed today (I believe it was at the outset of our military operation).  If billions are directly or indirectly released to the Iranian.

Great point. 

The people of Israel are demanding victory over the Iranian regime and Hezbollah.  Their election is in October. 

In our country, many demand we cut and run, make a deal and get out. Declare victory without an actual victory.  Our election is in November. 

Therein lies the rub. I’ve also mentioned this on radio. 

Those of us who’ve been insisting on the destruction of the regime and Hezbollah see the grave danger to OUR country and the world if the regime survives. We also see electoral risks if a false victory is declared. We’re accused of being Israel-firsters by the isolationists, warmongers, etc. 

If the isolationists succeed, or a real victory is not achieved, the Iranian regime, Hezbollah, Hamas will survive.  And I fear in both our countries the left will win the elections.

Over 90% of the 11 million Muslims killed between 1950 and 2007 were killed by fellow Muslims. Of all conflict deaths in that period, Arab-Israeli fighting accounts for just 0.06%.

The Arab world has used Palestinian suffering as a political weapon for 75 years while treating actual Palestinians with contempt, expulsion and massacre whenever they became inconvenient. That is the story nobody tells.
