+info on the tribes: They use birchbark for canoes & animal skins for clothes such as breechclouts, long cloaks and skirts. The Hurons speak the Wyandot dialect of the Iroquoian language. We introduced trade cloth to them and they've begun to adopt a more European type of dress.

We have been exploring the St. Lawrence River all day long as well as the grassy surroundings. We searched for lakes, rapids at Lachine, and villages such as Stadacona and Hochelaga. Unfortunately, both villages are no longer there. #rip

We are in a light boat sailing up the Saguenay River with a few natives and crew members as we have been told of rapids and falls, and of a far-away salt-water sea known as the Northwest Passage. Is this channel real? Or is it just a myth?

I learned that the women mix the meat with the harvests from their vegetable gardens once it has been brought back from the hunt by the men. #notvegan

Today the natives taught us their hunting technique. They start by forming a line with bows and arrows in hand and making loud noises to frighten the animals until they are forced back to the river where canoes armed with blades are waiting, or to pass through the arrows. #harsh

The Huron are asking that we help them deal with the Iroquois, provide them with military knowledge, metal, cooking pots, weapons, horses, and cattle in exchange for land to set up fur trading posts along the St. Lawrence River. #dealofthecentury

I've found the natives! I've never encountered them before and neither has the crew. But we have been expecting them as we know from @186Cartier's previous journeys here!
