An incredible group of men who are entering the next step in life and who will forever be part of The Brotherhood of SHS football.
Congratulations to them and their families on this exciting milestone โ go do great things!
Our Spring Lift-A-Thon fundraiser ended last weekend, and we are excited to share that we not only met, but surpassed our goal!
200 individual donations across 15 different states helped raise over $14,000 to help us continue to run a first-class program for our players!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to donate, we appreciate your support of Briar Jumper football! ๐
We were honored to have Somerset great Tony Massey at practice this afternoon to share a few words with Team 120!
Massey was one of the best to ever wear the Somerset gold helmet, totaling 26 INTs as a Safety while also playing QB and finishing his SHS career with multiple All-State selections and as the 1984 AP Kentucky Male Prep Athlete of the Year. He would go on to have a standout career at UK before brief stops with the Colts, Patriots and in the World League of American Football.
Long Live the Brotherhood!

We are very excited to announce the next head coach of our Meece Middle football program, GJ Wooldridge! Coach Wooldridge has put together an unbelievable career coaching KY middle school football, and we are looking forward to having his passion and energy in our program and on our sidelines. We know he will continue to develop future Briar Jumpers to do and be their best both on and off the field!
We would also like to take this time to recognize and thank Coach Castle Hatcher for the work heโs done leading our Meece program over the last several years. His nonstop commitment to his players has helped establish Meece football as one of the best middle school programs in all of Kentucky. Coach Hatcher will remain active with Meece program.
We are excited to take this next step and continue adding to our proud tradition.
GO JUMPERS! ๐ฅ๐ฐ
After 50 incredible years on our sidelines, Coach Max Messamore is officially announcing his retirement from coaching.ย
Since 1976, Coach Messamore has dedicated his life to coaching, developing and mentoring multiple generations of Briar Jumpers through our youth, middle and high school programs. Coach Messamore spent over 20 years with the Somerset Youth & Midget Leagues before beginning his career at Meece Middle in 1998, where he has spent nearly three decades working tirelessly to establish and maintain one of the best middle school football programs in the state.
He finishes his coaching career with 7 middle school football state championships and is a member of both the Somerset High School Athletics and KYMSFA Hall of Fame.ย
Coach Messamore has had his hand in coaching and developing hundreds if not thousands of Somerset student-athletes over the years, and his time, commitment and dedication to Somerset athletics leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.ย
We will forever be grateful for his investment in our kids and our community.
