@DaySocialist@PolitlcsUK 15% is not a tiny minority. There’s 7 apples in a bowl Ian, one will kill you - I’m guessing your reluctance to eat an apple might suddenly grow a bit!
@brucemcd23@ITVNewsPolitics@Peston You say it’s unsupported by facts so if all people are treated the same by the police why do we have the police race action plan? Why does it push for equity and to consider different starting points and disadvantages when dealing with criminals?
@latimermcl@ZackPolanski All these families from different backgrounds but they all say the same message - feels more like they are told what they can and can’t say and warned of consequences of it.
@ZackPolanski Every time there is an incident like this family comes out and says the same -just want peace, don’t be divisive. Are we to believe that not one has ever wanted to come out and truly let rip on the state of things? highly unlikely and makes me wonder if they are told what to say
@ZackPolanski So how do we approach the errors then? Given anyone who seems to question the role anti-racism ideology that may have played a part in the police actions is immediately accused of being racist, whipping up hate or is subjected to stats about stop and search ratios. Tell us how!
@johninsouthfla@BBCNewsnight Rubbish - quoting stats as to more x likely to be stopped and searched but ignoring stats as to how many more x likely to be carrying a knife or using it.
@owenjonesjourno@john_stephens67 The moment anyone tries to talk about this, about what needs to change, about how - there’s a good chance that - an over focus on DEI and inclusivity training had an impact on the way the police behaved - the conversation will be accused as divisive and shut down.
@MrBrendanCox be honest Brendan -if the situation was reversed then we would be saying mass protests and people - probably like yourself- calling for this to be a watershed moment and for scrutiny of the institutions involved. The family asking for calm should not stop the reflection needed
@RogerthePolice@ShonaB22@LifeOutside2017 It speaks of being so afraid of the r word that they reacted to that and prioritised it over everything else. HN was clearly not a threat, not likely to flee so no need for handcuffs.
@DPJHodges And if dad had demanded huge changes to police approaches, removal of all DEI aspects and mass non violent protests across the country you would have supported his wishes for those as well? Nope you’d have been arguing against it
@76567_to24683@TheMercianNews Equally there are those who want to ignore the victim because of who the perpetrator is and how it doesn’t suit their narrative. Both are awful people
@76567_to24683@TheMercianNews I think they are having a vigil because he was essentially left to die because the accusation of racism was seen as trumping the stabbing he had received. It’s about the police and priorities not the fact the criminal was brown.
