@GarretHohl Did the Caps reg season metrics vs PO metrics change much or are they considered an outlier? I tried to make playoff predictions mostly on Corsi that year and Caps were like 22nd in the league so I had them losing in round 2. Even in PO felt they played dump and chase alot
We have tendered an offer sheet to Anaheim center Leo Carlsson. The offer is a five-year contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of $18M, which would require four of the Flyers first-round draft picks in each of the next four seasons as compensation. https://t.co/nfhD4h6nEc

@GarretHohl Thanks for replying, I appreciate it. Do you have any theory on how/why Bob was able to do a complete 180 and turn his career around in the 2023 playoffs or is it (like you said) luck + the case an all time great finding his game after 4/5 years of mediocre at best goaltending?
@GarretHohl https://t.co/lWHxyoalW8 not trying to dunk on you but legitimately curious/confused with stats like this how the Paul Maurice and the panthers were able to go to 3 straight finals and win back to back cups
I think Toronto’s thinking is: he is a late bloomer so he already has president of bucking the trend of peaking at 24/25. 37% of his points came on the PP and elite power play players age better than non ones. Deal might suck halfway through but with cap rising it should help.
Raddysh to TOR: risky, but makes sense
- 8yrs for a 30yo with avg skating sure to age poorly
- not the best defender, opposite priorities as what CAR has been pursuing for its Ds
+ Maximizes Matthews pre UFA and McKenna ELC yrs
+ TOR should be a full cap team so $ less an issue
Late-night news:
Don’t expect this to be finalized until the morning, but there is word the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning are working on a sign-and-trade for Darren Raddysh.
The 30-year-old defenceman had a breakthrough 2025-26 with 22 goals and 70 points
@WPGMurat And regardless of if it would be a good contract or not, you can get out of the deal much quicker and move on in 2 years. Maybe even someone younger and better.
@WPGMurat Do you think it would really be that much of a miss (unless maybe you don’t think the jets should use the free agency route and maybe instead rebuild) of signing Marchment to 2 years 8 mill instead of 4 years 6 mill? Sure you overpay but shorter term keeps you closer to prime
@GarretHohl This is a little off topic I guess but what do you think of Free Agency? It’s a process that can net you great players like Ehlers and Marner who have worked out for their teams (at least in the short term) but on average you are paying for players who aren’t 24-25 (prime years)
