Life advice: don't talk shit about Thanksgiving. The vast majority of Americans like the holiday so much they voluntarily eat turkey, the worst meat ever. This should be a tell.
Flat Fee Advisors continues to expand our list of advisors who provide financial planning & investment management for a fixed fee, not based on a percentage of assets under management (AUM). Welcome @HermosaAdvisors & Cornerstone Financial Planning. https://t.co/Qo1UDIz30q
This is a simple action. If you have a financial advisor, & don’t know exactly what you’re paying, find out.
If you’re afraid to find out, that’s a problem. You should know the exact dollar you’re paying for this year’s service, and next year’s, and last year’s for that matter.
@StojBoj It gets hard again when you get closer to claiming Social Security & RMD (Required Minimum Distribution) age. Also - if you have recently inherited an IRA. Lotsa confusion out there!
I have some exciting news to share!
I also have a favor to ask.
First, the favor.

Now I'll share the news (and the reason for asking the favor) 🧵
@AdviserCounsel@Rick_Ferri Skipping the invoice keeps the AUM fee waaaay under the radar. Most investors who pay this way have NO idea what they are paying.....
@StojBoj@RyeDaFinanceGuy@Rick_Ferri Just curious - does your flat fee include establishing RMDs & making sure they go on time, wiring $$, generating cash for unexpected real estate purposes, re-titling accounts for trusts, etc etc???? The time for admin sometimes outweighs the investment advice.
@anjiekonte@olsonplanner@IanHBloom @MegBartelt Good thread with helpful info. Does anyone find it INSANE that we are smart enough to manage millions of dollars in client assets yet the process of completing an online form requires outsourcing?!?!?

@BillWinterberg Why do advisors charge AUM fees? Because they can and it's lucrative! It's hard to find fixed and hourly fee advisors, and incentives are minimal when the market is rising. The next prolonged bear market will make clients much more price sensitive.
@Rick_Ferri Do you have a way to know if your recommendations are implemented? Just curious since we make recommendations for clients to buy/sell/exchange in a 401K, 403B, etc. and many times they do not.
