A scathing reality check from TOI editorial that completely vindicates Team Bharat: the e20 mandate is a textbook botched policy driven by distillery profits over public interest.

The disastrous trade-off:
• Fake energy savings: Displaces very little petrol/km while reducing vehicle mileage.
• Economic blunder: Only makes financial sense if crude touches $120–$130/bbl. At ~$70 crude, we're burning cash.
• Food security disaster: 29% of maize diverted to fuel tanks. We spent 30x more forex importing edible oil than we "saved" on ethanol restrictions.
• Ecological crime: 4,670 liters of precious groundwater wasted for a single liter of maize ethanol, draining fragile aquifers.

We aren't saving foreign exchange; we're just shifting dependence from foreign crude to imported food while gutting our water tables. Scrap the first-gen biofuel lobby racket.

What a bandobast.

The yatra is, and has always been, a gruelling undertaking for those who choose to walk it. But why should that personal choice mean that everyone else going about their routines ..including offices, meetings, hospital visits, getting home, picking up children from school etc…have to bear hours and hours of traffic snarls and disruption?

If anything, encourage more discipline, prayer, devotion… reinforcing the sanctity of religion, rather than DJ spectacles, giant displays and excesses of hedonistic indulgence.

And then there is the completely separate SWM and waste issue.

Where’s the bandobast for ensuring प्रकृति is respected and food and refreshments are served in #reusable crockery only? A zero-waste bandobast is possible if the government prioritises it, isn’t it @SwachhBharatGov?

जब कंकर-कंकर में शंकर मानते हैं, तो इतना कूड़ा और प्रकृति का दुरुपयोग क्यों? शंकर की भक्ति का bandobast है, तो शंकर की प्रकृति के सम्मान का bandobast क्यों नहीं?

Also, may I respectfully ask @PMOIndia : where is the bandobast for people suffering from #ChronicHealth conditions who cannot remain stuck in stationary cars without feeling uneasy?

Where’s the bandobast to ensure all government laws..including noise pollution and traffic norms, even something as basic as wearing helmets...being followed?

India cannot be selective about which laws to enforce and which to overlook.

And it is this selective bandobast that is creating selective enforcement and lack of #जवाबदेही

Because

When it comes to dust abatement, waste management and pollution control, we are repeatedly told that there isn’t enough enforcement capacity.

So what will the bandobast be in the coming months, when Delhi NCR is choking under pollution and smog? 😔 Will we suddenly see this kind of machinery deployed for dust control, waste management and clean air?
