Holy Roller is one of only two such tanks remaining in Canada that survived from the D-Day landings in June 1944 to the end of the war in Europe in 1945.
There are plenty of #DDay infographics out there, but few examine Juno Beach or the Canadian contribution in detail. @RCAF_ARC@RoyalCanNavy@CanadianArmy
Ours does both. You can download a PDF version and see how we arrived at our figures here: https://t.co/ANk1rzvp9H
Produced shortly after the end of WW2, The Roll of Honour for the #FirstHussars, is also displayed in the lobby of the City Hall (London Ontario) and inside the front door to the Museum
The #HolyRoller#ShermanTank has four plaques attached to it. Several years ago the plaque from the Dutch Government was replaced and the original is now on display at the #HussarsMuseum.
Good News Story in the Time of Covid
The First Hussars Museum in London, Ont. this week received word that funding under the Cda Summer Jobs program has been approved (2 students for 8 weeks each). We would like to thank our local MP Peter Fragiskatos @pfragiskatos for his help
We are getting closer to our mission to save our surviving veteran. Please share with family and friends.

Show your support for @1HHolyRoller by backing the effort to preserve this monument to one of Canada's #DDay regiments. I just pitched in.

If you don't like having to look at the Holy Roller, by all means hold a protest in front of it. The men who crewed the tank fought for your right to do just that. But this wasn't a protest, it was vandalism plain and simple.
@lisambrandt @1HHolyRoller I visited its mate after walking the length of Juno Beach from Bernières-sur-Mer to Courselles-sur-Mer. It was fished out of the harbour in 1971, after sinking in the Channel during the landing operations of 1944. So very disrespectful and entirely ignorant of our shared history.
On the bad news side, some one or more than one persons tagged the back wall of our small museum, in the past week or so. Congratulations to who ever "Baby Jay" is.
The HOLY ROLLER participated in the liberation of France, Belgium and Holland with the 1st Hussars to free innocent people who lived under Nazi occupation during #WWII. It is one of #LdnOnt most important monuments.
The HOLY ROLLER is #LdnOnt only surviving veteran. The monument doesn’t glorify war, it honours the sacrifices of the men and women who protected us and fought for our rights and freedoms. https://t.co/fEm8JDB4Bu To learn more please visit https://t.co/dcpBdospxt
To mark the despicable vandalism of the Holy Roller memorial tank in London, I'm drinking a @TobogganBrewery Holy Roller Lager and I've just made a donation to https://t.co/YM94ijeNaa
You should do the same!

The 1st Hussars Cavalry Fund was awarded a cheque from the Byron-Springbank Legion Branch 533 last week to support the preservation of HOLY ROLLER. Now $5000 closer to our goal, we are extremely grateful to accept and appreciate all support around the preservation of HOLY ROLLER.
