Very honest and hopefully helpful words from @JamesAcaster about mental health. Although I must admit his polite reaction to Dean Saunders did made me laugh
Saunders: “Tears of a clown! That saying, tears of a clown!”
Acaster: “That...*is* a saying”
@Neil_Davies_ Yeah that’s fair. To counter that, I’d say that if a player is almost there then perhaps he might actually get there eventually 😅. We’ll see!
@JakeW2311@Neil_Davies_ I think when you have so few outlets on the pitch, it’s probably asking a lot of Shaq to do it on his own. He needs to do better, for sure but we need more out there to help create.
Only one club of the 48 that have played in the Championship over the last decade has made an operating profit per @valuball
Eight have made losses exceeding £200m in that period (2015/16 to 2024/25).
@brimmo_ Agree. I’ve been a big believer in Brad and was the obvious No.1 choice in the summer. Was getting worried about the amount of goals we were conceding though so pleased to see him play so confidently.
We’ll take that. Dry off and move on.
Nice to see Brad have a decent game too. Mola and Alfie were superb.
Shaq played okay once again, needs a goal/assist to satisfy the statisticians among us but all-round play is pretty decent and I’ll take that as the baseline target met.
@0contextrovers Bang on. Jed had the same opportunity that Brad had, the season before, and didn’t take the chance. Whereas BY was unreal last season. It’s easy to say now that Jed should be our number one but it’s disingenuous IMO. Jed didn’t want to be no. 2 and wanted to leave - so fair play.
Don’t wanna be too harsh on the lad but can we stop pretending Jed Ward was good enough for us?
Looked at sea every time there was a high ball or set piece
@ashbelsten1@SimonGould51216 Yeah the team comfortably in front often takes the foot off the gas a little.
The fight back was encouraging and made for a more entertaining game but I’m pretty sure we’re absolutely average - and that’s on a good day.
We gave it some in the 2nd half which made a difference but for me, it merely highlighted how lacklustre we were in the 1st.
Very worrying and I’m absolutely looking over the shoulder.
@LukeDUTG Our best player by far today. Low bar maybe but the only player who looked dangerous. His link up play, movement and creativity has always been decent, for me. He’s still a target for some because of what’s gone before - but he’s worth investing the time in imo. A rough diamond.
Whilst I can’t deny we’re miles off it, Evans has earned the opportunity to turn it around. We can’t ignore that the Raynor situation will be having a big impact as well.
Time and patience is always in short supply in football but I think it’s warranted here.
Big game Tues.
@Denner28@GasCastPodcast I think you’re right, Denner. Lots going on and SE deserves the chance to turn it around. Big game on Tuesday and a win there could be the catalyst.
@timothy1883_@JakeW2311 I’ve not listened to the pod myself yet but in fairness, most of the Quigley glazing was more of a lighthearted take on a player who got so much stick at his previous club and most had written off. He surprised a few people last season so the glazing continued 😂
In an attempt to end the weekend on a slightly more positive note…
…we’re far from the only team in L2 struggling away from home so far this season (away table👇).
The missing context is how badly we’ve played, but 11 teams are still on 0️⃣ away wins.
Funny old league.

Can’t keep chalking these results and performances down to a blip now.
Hopefully Gough can start some games from here on in as that midfield is struggling massively. The entire defensive unit needs to take a look at themselves too - atrocious stuff.
@mancgas@SimonGould51216 I’m a big fan of Brad and was delighted he was made number 1, signed the contract etc. but he’s in a bad spot at the moment.
Kelly didn’t do him any favours for the goal mind, atrocious defending 35 seconds in!
