🚨 BREAKING: Ghana Government Accepts Plan to Extend Presidential Term from 4 to 5 Years

Ghana’s government has accepted a key recommendation to extend the presidential term from four to five years, Attorney-General and Justice Minister Dr. Dominic Ayine announced on Thursday.

The change will also apply to parliamentary terms. Officials say the extra year is meant to give elected leaders more time to implement policies and deliver results.

The new term length will not affect the current president.

In the same announcement, the government also accepted two other major reforms:
- Lowering the minimum age to contest the presidency from 40 to 35
- Allowing Ghanaians by birth who hold dual citizenship to run for parliament and most other high offices (except the presidency)

The proposals still require further constitutional processes before they become law.
