UNICEF was pleased to participate in welcoming His Excellency, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, during a two-day visit to Aleppo to witness the impact of Korea’s support for children, families, and communities.
During the visit, His Excellency visited the Al-Kifah school compound in eastern Aleppo, where UNICEF, with support from the Republic of Korea and other partners, is restoring access to education through the rehabilitation of schools damaged by years of conflict. The intervention includes the only secondary school for girls in the area and will help provide safe and inclusive learning opportunities for hundreds of children.
With increasing numbers of returning families in Aleppo, expanding access to quality education remains essential. The visit reflected the strong partnership between UNICEF and the Republic of Korea in advancing children's right to education and expanding access to safe, quality learning environments that help girls and boys reach their full potential.

A joint mission of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, WHO and UNICEF Syria visited Deir-ez-Zor, where they met with local health teams to listen to priorities on the ground and discuss ways to strengthen immunization services, especially in remote areas.
With the support of Gavi, and in close partnership with WHO and the Ministry of Health, UNICEF Syria assists the Ministry of Health in expanding vaccine coverage by supporting mobile teams and health centres to bring vaccination services closer to children and families.
This support is also critical to strengthening cold chain systems, helping ensure vaccines are safely stored, transported and delivered where they are needed most.
Together, we continue to protect children and communities across Syria from vaccine-preventable diseases.

A knock on the door, and a step towards hope 💙
In Najih village, Dar’a, UNICEF teams are moving door to door, meeting families where they are, listening, registering, and responding.
Behind each door is a story of resilience. Families who have returned after years of displacement are rebuilding their lives from almost nothing, relying on unpredictable seasonal work to meet their daily needs. For many, even the basics remain out of reach.
Through UNICEF’s cash assistance programme, funded by the Syria Humanitarian Fund (SHF), vulnerable families are now being identified to receive cash in support, helping them put food on the table, buy clothes for their children, or make long-awaited repairs to their homes.
“This support comes at a critical time,” says Fares, a father of five. “It will help us meet our most urgent needs.”
For children like Salam, it means small but meaningful joys, like going to the market with her mother. For parents, it restores something even greater: choice, dignity, and a sense of stability.
This initiative is just beginning, but already, it is planting seeds of hope across communities that need it most.

Flooding along the Euphrates continues to impact children and families across Deir-ez-Zor and Ar-Raqqa. More than 19,000 people have been affected. Over 800 homes and agricultural land have been flooded, and critical water infrastructure has been damaged, leaving many communities without access to safe water.
UNICEF is supporting emergency response efforts by helping restore water treatment plants, trucking safe drinking water to affected communities, distributing hygiene kits in shelters, maintaining water facilities, and installing solar-powered lighting to help protect women and children.
Together with partners, UNICEF is also providing psychosocial support, parenting sessions, hygiene promotion and awareness on drowning prevention to help keep children safe during this crisis.
More support is urgently needed to reach vulnerable children and families and help communities recover.
