@Nadeshot@McDonalds My brother in Christ it is there. As a Mac sauce lover myself you gotta trust me on this. Itโs lowkey hidden under the top section of sauces!
Just stop.
If we're going to discuss history, let's discuss history, not national pride.
The RAF did not defeat the Luftwaffe by itself. It fought with incredible courage and prevented Britain from falling, but Germany continued bombing Britain. Churchill himself understood Britain could not win the war alone. That's why he fought so hard to bring the United States into the war.
As Churchill said, "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." He was honoring the bravery of the RAF, not claiming Britain had already won the war.
The RAF paid an enormous price. So did the U.S. Army Air Forces. Thousands of young Americans climbed into bombers knowing they had a frightening chance of never coming home. They flew because they knew the only way to destroy Hitler's war machine was to take the fight into Germany.
Five years ago, I interviewed Albert, a B-24 pilot. I asked why he joined the Army Air Forces. His answer has stayed with me:
"I couldn't let those Brit flyboys take this fight alone."
That's what the Allied effort looked like.
The United States brought overwhelming industrial production, millions of troops, ships, aircraft, food, fuel, and ammunition. Britain provided the unsinkable base from which Europe could be liberated. The Soviet Union shattered the bulk of the German Army on the Eastern Front. Canada, Poland, France, Australia, New Zealand, India, and countless other Allied nations all sacrificed blood for victory.
Remove any one of those pieces, and history looks very different.
So please stop with the "we won it" arguments, whether you're American, British, or from anywhere else. No one won World War II alone.
And if you feel like mocking Americans, take a walk through the Cambridge American Cemetery. Read the names. Look at the ages. Those young men crossed an ocean and died far from home for the liberation of Europe. They deserve the same respect as every British, Canadian, Polish, French, Australian, Soviet, and Allied serviceman and woman who gave everything.
World War II wasn't won by one flag.
It was won by an alliance.
