A lot of training confusion comes from mistaking variation for progression.
The basics didn’t survive because we ran out of ideas. They survived because they work.
Bounding, hurdle hops, depth jumps, box jumps…when you stick with them long enough to actually get better at
DEVELOPING MENTAL TOUGHNESS
"You get mental toughness because things are hard. You've got to embrace hard.
Tough times make hard people. Easy times make soft people...
You've gotta learn to overcome things that are hard." (Nick Saban)
Soccer ⚽️ accounts for 53.2% of ACL injuries in high school female athletes, so we prioritize unilateral movements like skater squats to build strength and resilience:

Yesterday I tweeted an idea to make becoming a teacher more affordable and more of an apprenticeship. The tweet is approaching 400K views.
I’m highly influenced by coaching.
Great coaches didn’t take advanced courses or rigorous certification programs. They learned by imitating the best in our profession, reading, attending clinics, and most important, trial and error. In a way, coaches do a long apprenticeship, arguably never-ending. We learn by doing, not by memorizing content.
The replies to my teaching tweet started out thoughtful and respectful. There was some debate and some areas of agreement.
Then it descending into “kids these days”, teacher-hate, and the general feeling that public schools suck and we should burn it all down.
Some thought I was anti-college. I’m not.
Many attacked through a MAGA lens saying the Department of Education was the problem and that Musk and DOGE was the answer. Many saw vouchers as the solution. (Or home-schooling.) Some believed AI will end public schools.
Many attacked with alternative facts… believing starting teacher salaries were over $70K.
(77% of starting teachers make less than $50K, 29% less than $40K.)
Some stated that teachers can get all their loans dismissed and no one borrows $100K because state colleges are relatively inexpensive. ⤵️
(University of Illinois projected cost for four years of on-campus study is $128,536 for in-state students.)
Reading through the replies made me wonder if ANYTHING can be discussed and debated towards a positive conclusion.
Consensus is hard. Democracy is messy.
Great day in the weight room at Weatherford High School! We have football, basketball, girls and boys track programs working hard. We are blessed with the best facilities in the state!
Proud to represent Texas State and the Sun Belt! Love this university and excited for the future!
Have great colleagues across the Sun Belt and am proud of what we have all been able to accomplish as a conference in coaches video!
