Free PDF I made showing speed reductions from in season and the associated distances lost in feet and yards. It’s pretty eye opening how dramatic an 8% reduction has. Email me [email protected] I’ll send it over.
Most people try harder.
High performers build systems.
There's a difference between effort and infrastructure.
Effort depletes. Infrastructure compounds.
The question isn't: how do I try harder at this?
The question is: how do I make this happen without trying?
Build the system once. Let it run.
That's essentialism in practice.
One Illinois Boys’ Track takeaway….
Sprints are faster than ever.
Certainly many factors.
One that can’t be discounted in this state is the contributions of Tony Holler and Chris Korfist and the importance of sprinting.
So proud of our Track-Football guys:

From Brian Labbe:
“I coach in Frenchtown, Montana that has always had a pretty good football culture, but definitely was stuck in the old school way of doing things. A couple years ago a fellow college teammate took over as Head Coach of the program, and made me the OC, and we went full Feed the Cats on our training and preparation of our team. In those two years we have gone 20-2, and last season were able to get over the hump and win the State Championship against a team that was on a 23 game win streak, and beat us 35-7 in a preseason game the same year. One of the, if not the biggest upset in Montana High School Football History. One of the things other coaches told us throughout the year, and what they saw in the Championship game, was how fast we were on the field. A testament to your philosophy of Sprint Based Football.”
“I have also incorporated your philosophy into my Weight Training Classes in our school, and put our main focus into Speed Development. Now the majority of our student athletes are Feed the Cat Athletes (We call it Big Cat Training) and we had one of the most successful sports years our school has ever seen.”
@GowagsKyle@JoshChambers Couldn’t agree more.
Knight was unparalleled as a coach and a teacher of coaches when I knew him in the 1980s.
Then he became a grotesque caricature of his former self.
In the process of writing a state meet article.
Illinois (all classes, boys) has improved a ton from 2014-16 to 2024-26, especially in the 100, 200, and 4x1. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
