🚨 Nepal’s south-eastern Tarai region has witnessed serious communal violence.

The clashes began on 26 July in Kaptanganj, Sunsari, during preparations for the Bol Bam Yatra, where a dispute over DJ music, amid already existing tensions over a religious flag, escalated into violence.

Police later opened fire to disperse the crowd. Om Prakash Mehta and Jay Prakash Mehta died in the firing, while 15-year-old Ganesh Yadav was killed as the unrest spread to Siraha.

📊 Nepal is 81% Hindu and 5% Muslim, but the violence began in Sunsari, where Muslims constitute about 12.3% of the population.

Authorities imposed curfews, deployed security forces and launched an investigation.
