CARICOM players wanted more from climate talks to ramp up the ambition to cut emissions and the associated impacts – from extreme weather events, such as hurricanes, to threats to food and water security, as well as the risks to public health.

21-year-old Deaney Gellizeau, a climate and youth activist from St. Vincent and the Grenadines told us: “I have been exposed to multi-faceted perspectives from persons across various backgrounds from all over the world, and their contributions towards the #climatechange battle.”
Here is my #COP27 assessment.
First thing first, COP27 has done what no other COP has achieved & created a loss & damage fund to support the impacted communities of climate change. Vulnerable countries have been calling for since the 1992 Rio Earth Summit
The #LossAndDamageFund established at #COP27 is a big win for small island developing states & a nod to the vision & advocacy work of @AOSISChair. Yes, the Fund needs to be operationalized, but let's not minimize its significance.
Every security personnel I’ve encountered in Egypt and at airports over the last few days, as soon as they see my passport, they have to call their supervisor to verify Trinidad and Tobago is a real place.
The struggle to fully stand-up and resource this fund starts now.
The lack of collective ambition to keep global temp. increase below 1.5C is retrograde & will certainly reinforce the need for adequate resourcing. #COP27; @AOSISChair ; @LDCChairUNFCCC ; @OpenSociety
