@LarryStrauss Unfortunately, we cannot fire the ineffective teachers. If we had schools performing like they should, I would have no problem with raises. Also, the cost of living affects all of us. Not just teachers. Maybe reconsider your choice of governor. CA has the worst ever

Larry, good points all but, maybe you should consider the parents and other stakeholders in CA. By the way, most of us non-teachers work more than 40 hours per week all year. We don't get three months off during summer. Both my brother and his wife were teachers.

I am a CPA with a Masters degree and I get zero weeks off in the summer plus huge hours between January and April including weekends. In 30 years I have NEVER had a 30% salary increase. Plus, I too take work home. I find it very hard to empathize with you. wish you would help me

@LarryStrauss further, please explain why CA has one of the highest funding rates in the country and some of the lowest scores. Oddly, somehow teachers have no responsibility for that. Explain how that makes sense.
