Last but not least we have the final stage of my healing! It’s back to bone remodeling! My fracture is healed and it’s all thanks to Cohort 13! (Who is totally gonna win the bioscience olympics next year)
Next comes the formation of boney callus! This is fun because it’s similar to the calluses that my person has from playing tennis all the time. Callus is derived from the Latin root thick skinned. This is the perfect stage for jokes. R/roastme!
This is a cool stage in my healing process. A ton of fibroblasts and chondroblasts have gathered with sympathy cards in an effort to make me feel better. This is called fibrocartilage callus and it’s temporary. Later my friends become dormant in the new extracellular matrix.
This is my first step on the road to a healed fracture. I have developed a hematoma. Hema meaning blood and toma meaning tumor. This is just the congregation of blood outside of the vessels due to trauma. It’s not super serious so I’ll be fine. One to the next stage! ⏭
Guys, you’ll never guess what happened to me today! So I broke! It was a very pretty complete transverse nondisplaced break but it hurt like crazy! Luckily, members of the elite bioscience cohort 13 jumped right into action and bandaged me up real good. I’ll be good as new!
@EColi_official@_B_Mega_@_B_Mega_ and @EColi_official Actually you can call it either. They describe the same process where my mature bone is removed through bone resorption and the osteoblasts aid in ossification to restore what the osteoclasts took away. <3
HEY ITS TIME TO CELEBRATE!! I have finally stopped growing! My epiphyseal plate has been reduced to a epiphyseal line and now all I have to do is maintain my bone density by eating right getting sunlight and doing some highish impact workouts.
Hey I think I can be pretty funny sometimes. What did the long bone marrow say to the flat bone marrow regarding the flat bone marrows crush? “It’s fine if you turn red, just say yellow!”
Hey did you know that I do more than interstitial growing! (Length) I’m pretty thicc which means I grow appositionally. This makes my diameter nice and round and strong and wide! #platformforyourguns 💪🏻
This is one of my osteoclasts. He can be a little rebel rouser but he’s very important to my survival. As my osteoblasts build me up, osteoclasts break me down so I can regenerate and use the calcium from my compact bone into the blood.
This is my head and neck. There is a portion in between two sections of spongy bone. This is called my epiphyseal plate! As I grow the plate gets longer, but not to worry my person gets lots of calcium and vitamin D. This means that the cartilage transforms into compact bone.
Hey! I just hit a growth spurt!! My periosteum is totally vascularized and now I have osteoblasts that are going to start to generate compact bone soon!
Look at this absolute unit! This is a 🐳 humerus. Although he is full grown, he could never have become this gorgeous without undergoing ossification in the primary ossification center where bone was forming and blood vessels were congregating.
