The Heartbreaking Impact of Corruption in Uganda
Corruption, a scourge that plagues nations worldwide, has inflicted deep wounds on Uganda, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. In this East African nation, corruption undermines progress, erodes trust, and perpetuates
In May 2013, the government of Uganda sent armed police to shut down the country’s biggest independent newspaper because it printed something the regime insisted was a lie. Thirteen years later, the man at the centre of that so-called lie has gone on Twitter countless times, unprompted, to tell us it was all true.
Let me take you back, because the story is almost too neat.

We've just been informed of the abduction of @NinyeTabz from Kamwokya a short while ago. He has been whisked away in a drone. The lawlessness continues!

When lives of the citizens are determined by the mood of the wife of a dictator’s spoilt son, then you know that no one is safe in the country. Not even those that cheer as others are being tortured and their rights violated.
After the intervention of the uncle that stays in Gulu, the former Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago is about to be driven to Central Police Station in Kampala and will subsequently be released on Police bond without charge!
We are all equal but…..
So, Uganda is Ebola-free just days after the World Health Organization sent $ 3 million to manage the “outbreak” after Trump cut aid?!
Perhaps the guys running Ministry of Health should be the guys running Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Uganda. Well played! 🙌🏾✌️🏾🔥
@Kall_essy@kizzabesigye1 I’m still puzzled by what the government plans to do with this man after stripping him of almost everything, yet they’re still not satisfied. It’s truly shameful to witness top officials and so-called intellectuals remain silent while we’re on the brink of losing another icon 🥹
The present trials and tribulations of Dr. @kizzabesigye1 must not be seen as an attack on him alone but an attack on all of us. He is being detained illegally. He is being persecuted. He is sick. He needs urgent medical attention. He has served this country and fought for all of us.
NO BODY should trivialise this dire situation. This is not a time to politik. It is a time to unite and face the monster- Gen. Museveni and his brutal son. They clearly want to kill Dr. Besigye, as they have killed many in the past.
Dictators world over and throughout history believe in testing the ground. They kill one today, another tomorrow and another the following day. When they realise that they can get away with anything, they descend on the entire population and massacre those who oppose their criminal regimes.
Therefore what is happening to Dr. Besigye and the other political prisoners can and will happen to all of us UNLESS WE RISE UP AND PUT AN END TO THIS HUMILIATION.
No wonder Museveni's son is saying that after killing Dr. Besigye, he will come for me and all of us. These are not empty threats- that is how the holocaust began. That is how genocides begin.
I salute all those who are protesting, sending out messages and doing everything possible to ramp up the pressure. Let everyone do everything within their power to call for the immediate release of Dr. Besigye and other prisoners of conscience.

Now we know why Nawangwe is actively editing his academic papers to fit the lies he has told all his life.
Watch out for more edits.

No health worker should ever work for free!
Gov’t is busy telling health workers to “volunteer” while 556 MPs each take home 35M UGX per month—that’s 19.46B UGX monthly and a whopping 233.52B UGX per year in salaries alone!
Cut that number in half, and we instantly save 116.76B UGX per year—more than enough to sustain these health workers. But will they ever sacrifice even a shilling? Never!
Ugandans are always told to tighten their belts while the big shots keep feasting. We are not fools!
