Just occurred to me this is the first time in my lifetime I can remember a billionaire funding a valuable public works project. Andrew Carnegie funded like 2000 libraries alone lol
No joke, get this. A cabal of billionaire pedophile Nazis has seized control of a global superpower. They’re murdering people in the street, arresting journalists, and setting up a network of concentration camps across the United States.
Cool. I guess we’re just gonna watch?
an original movie sold almost entirely on a young actor’s star power bringing out audiences in droves like this is a genuine christmas miracle. what a hopeful note for the industry to end this year and head into 2026 on :’)
When asked if Netflix is destroying Hollywood, co-CEO Ted Sarandos said “No, we’re saving Hollywood.”
“We’re in a period of transition. Folks grew up thinking, ‘I want to make movies on a gigantic screen and have strangers watch them [and to have them] play in the theater for two months and people cry and sold-out shows … It’s an outdated concept.”

@responsiblerob we just have to remember june squibb saying that true bravery's being kind even to those who are being cruel to you. they're being cruel and have cruelty in their hearts but still we are kind
"EBT should only pay for gruel that comes in a metal pail" is the kind of argument that must feel soooooo good to make if you're evil and also have an enormous hole in your frontal lobe
If you're using AI to write essays, something everyone was capable of doing until the day before yesterday, I think less of you as a person. Surrendering your mental abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and you should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.
I find it bleak that ChatGPT now has more users than Wikipedia. Many people would rather be spoon-fed information by a machine than read and research for themselves. Tech isn't just making us dumber. Worse than that: it's killing curiosity itself and the desire to learn.
criterion collection used to devote their work to renewing old films and curating the works of international auteurs with intelligent and personal essays and now they just release whatever movie gets talked about for 3 days on twitter and do letterboxd level “journalism”
