While this surplus is good news and shows the Smith government resisted the urge to spend its revenue windfall, the province still spends much more per person than other jurisdictions. The Smith government needs to find further savings to keep its promises of lower taxes. #abpoli

@youseepeeYYC@fatimasal82 I'm curious if she wore a mask when she protested against gay people. She and her culture and the Hamas who has led them and protected them for decades still imprison and even k**ll gays over there. On our soil they support hate towards vulnerable populations. Hypocritical?
It’s not a happy Canada Day for Canadian Jews. It’s a day stained by rampant antisemitism & threats targeting our community. Our synagogues, our schools, our lives. But let’s be clear, the hate won’t silence us or cause us to hide. It will only make us louder, prouder & stronger!
@lelemSLP “The struggle that Israel has is, in more ways than one, similar to the struggles of Indigenous people around the world. And more particularly First Nations in our area”

The chief of Nishnawbe Aski Nation of Ontario :
"We are standing with Israel right now, and we will continue to do that. The struggle that Israel has is, in more ways than one, similar to the struggles of Indigenous people around the world. And more particularly First Nations in our area.
We have an opportunity that if there is a situation to speak about Israel and the Jewish people, we have to bring correction, education, intervention. We have made up our minds and believe that your struggle is our struggle here in North America and probably for all the Indigenous people around the world. "

Add context: new polling from @AngusReid finds Canadians more opposed than supportive of the changes to capital gains, with 20% expecting to pay more over the next 5 years.
Canadians understand the second order effects of this tax increase. This is not going to impact just 0.13% of the population. Higher taxes leads to reduced investment. Less investment leads to a decrease in R&D and innovation. We need to be doing the complete opposite. We need to encourage investment and incentivize risk taking to build new companies and create more jobs.
Building and innovating is how we create generational change.

I truly love Canada. And I am fiercely Canadian. This country will always be my home and I try my best to always spread 🇨🇦 pride all over the world.
But this isn’t the way to unite us and move us forward. This is divisive and political.
We’re better than this.
