@sandeeps13 Centralisation of business only one open border leaves little room for price competition not to mention all these real profitable businesses are in hands of monopolies which won’t be shaken any time soon. All this attitude trickles down to customers -the real losers
@sandeeps13 Bhutanese are forced to do in jaigoan because we are surrounded by 3 sides by India and the northern border is closed. Any other reason is a lie and cope. And if there were a third country bordering Bhutan we would also have more options. landlocked country has its disadvantages
@sandeeps13 With all due respect the govt privatisation policy and multiple tax slabs at each level and not to mention the poor infrastructure and logistics make it impossible to give the Bhutanese customers at a so called fair rate.
@AchuKhegpa I have long detested doma. Wished we had would not promote it in the name of culture but slowly phase it out in the name of hygiene and health
@AchuKhegpa@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@KuenselOnline Exactly they have negatively impacted the whole industry & its players. They have made sure others will have deep suspicion & fear to invest in tourism now. Maybe that was the plan?. Dot dg in his interview said bhutanese were making easy money. Fredulian slip lol
@AchuKhegpa@sandeeps13@MichalThoma@KuenselOnline Yeah there are anti immigrant feelings world wide in the rise. Especially the west. I don’t know whether Bhutanese will be affected negatively maybe, maybe not. But most are staying there permanently irrespective of it that’s my guess.
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline Have you seen the recent headlines? The whole monument fees were stolen right under their nose. I know many of my acquaintances who have shifted to guide and drivers and they laugh about the loopholes. they don’t Clearly they are powerless. All bark no bite. Enforce vigorously?
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline They want more money. That’s their standard lol. Anyway everyone including the tcc knows this sdf 200 was a huge mistake. They did lot of trimming and were basically arm twisted by ground realities to dramatic drop to 100. Let’s see their next move lol
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline What’s the carry capacity of Buddha point or memorial chorten? Do we count the monuments capacity or a perimeter of say paro or Thimphu? And what services specifically is called certain quality level? I am not being sarcastic I really want to know your understanding of it
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline Ok low volume- means no crowd. No noise. Barely detectable tourist who feel special that they are one of these few ones. Low numbers basically. That part is clear then why lament low number of arrivals? lol what is high value? Please define it
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline I disagree. One needs to define this low volume- numbers?maybe annual, quarterly? High value - money? Or feeling? How do you measure that? maybe in revenue terms otherwise the policy is too philosophical. One reason maybe why there’s too many flip flops
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline These things need long term and I mean 20-25 years of planning in terms of infrastructure logistics and even trained personnel. Maybe in China or Europe it’s doable. No sane Bhutanese will now enter the tourism market if this flip flop policy trends continue.
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline So no crowds. Low volume. So you want the high value ones? Same like our govt plan. And how do you suggest we achieve that I am really curious.
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline In bhutan even 25 people can be called a crowd. Yes there can be a policy to limit tourist numbers but right now we have no idea what we are doing. but we are unhappy with results that’s for sure cause it’s such a abrupt change and they have already reduced sdfto 100. Soon 0 lol
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline Most countries say that to local population maybe to ease their annoyance but the action is all otherwise they all providing incentives to draw in as many numbers as possible. So I guess we do have things in common with other countries tourism but in opposite direction lol
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline Then stick with it. / just get rid of it /reverse it to orignal 60. Don’t play with it and ruin the credibility. They didn’t plan well. Their objectives were delusional and their consequences disastrous. They didn’t study the bank loans and people employees and added value? lol
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline We cant compete that. Those places can make same arguments like bhutan that these places are special and worth visiting. I am talking that their objectives are clear they want maximum visitors. What’s ours? Minimum? Cause that’s achieved. Now the high value part? Can you define?
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline And i mean stick with sdf 200 for like atleast 25 years then. Then I will take this slogan seriously. People will not be deceived to invest and be blindsided by policies. business environment needs prospects and policies that are stable and returned guaranteed. Same shit with fdi
@MichalThoma@sandeeps13@AchuKhegpa@KuenselOnline But it’s not all bad they have some good practices we can learn from. Trying to achieve a perfect tourism is un achievable. All touristy places have their pros and cons. If bhutan really wants high value and low volume then they shouldn’t play around too much. Stick with sdf 200.
