A large study of over 40,000 people found that COVID-19 infection can cause long-lasting changes in immune cells, particularly lymphocytes.

➡️ Researchers observed significant drops in T cells, CD4⁺ T cells, CD8⁺ T cells, NK cells, and B cells during infection, with incomplete recovery long after.

@marcfavell I agree, so I’m NVAX-only now but is it’s unavailable for under 12s. I know a guy with MRNA injury (full disability military discharge, got Afib and other issues). Can I assume if my kid already had MRNA a few times they’ll be OK and risk isn’t cumulative? He won’t be 12 til 2027

Spouse wishes for a normal life after 5 years of “coviding” (novid family of 4 with immune compromised child) but needs data.
@DrNeilStone Just what a robotic MBA would recommend: have people live just long enough to get their “productive years”, no worries about social security/NHS burdens of old age, no reason to save for retirement (goes back into the Almighty Economy). Maybe not a coincidence, see Yarvinism.

Are there any tests/biomarkers to objectively diagnose LC?
Do we have evidence of people completely clearing the virus? Given the potential for reservoirs in all types of issue from brain to gut, that seems difficult to prove.
@inkblue01 Are they scared enough? If you told people that if you wore an N95 in crowded places you were guaranteed to never get cancer would they do it?
People don’t know what the virus does and make their decisions based on feelings/comfort and obsession with being viewed as “normal”.
@Friesein Do we know how long it takes to offer full protection? I know it’s “a couple of weeks” has been the standard answer for MRNA but some of the other long term studies saw Novavax climb for longer than that. Want to time it to a higher risk activity in mid-October.
